Article Marketing

Article Marketing has been around for as long as newspapers, magazines and mass printing, although the internet has, understandably, opened up a whole new market for article marketing. Businesses would use article marketing as a way of getting a bit of free space in the newspaper, for example, writing an informative, useful article for the local press in return for the contact information of the business who wrote the stuff in the first place. This was generally regarded as useful for both parties, a bit of free advertising for the business and a bit of free content for the newspaper. A local garage might write an article on how to prepare your car for winter, for example, and publish it just before the first ice and snow is expected.

Internet Article Marketing

Internet article marketing is very much of the same concept, it’s basically a marketing technique to advertise products or services online in article directories or similar, as subtly as possible. There are loads of online article directories which are pretty popular with search engines, so placing a few well written, keyword rich articles in the right place can really do wonders for your business. Trying to maximize your results, however, by placing the same article onto numerous directories is not popular with the majority of search engines, which scan for duplicate content.

Internet Article Marketing Writing

Marketing articles for the internet generally follow the same type of format:

      • write a catchy title (you’ve got to grab the attention of the reader haven’t you?)
      • write an article of around 500 words (you don’t want them to get bored do you, 500 words should be plenty to get your message across)
      • incorporate the relevant keywords or keyphrases – a density of around 2% to 3% is considered to be acceptable, anything more than that is just keyword stuffing and can spoil the flow of the article
      • although you might not be permitted to include your HTML tag, you will generally be able to get your details in somewhere
